the grinch

this is what pretty much describes bill and me. I hate Christmas songs, We usually volunteer to work Christmas, to get out of the family thing. My Christmas decorations haven't seen the light of day for over 20 years. Not a light or decoration in sight, no god awful blow-up things outside. AND no presents. If we don't work it we plan big vacation around this time. I remember having the BEST Christmases when i was a kid. Mom was the best. She made sure they were wonderful memories for us. But, christmas is for kids. Now, it's just a big scam. It makes me sick at how much people spend on junk!!! buy handmade and antiques, recycle. i know most people don't agree but, what can i say. I'm always glad when it's over.

I'm with ya sista...hate it too. I never get to cook for my family, because Piper refuses to leave her house. She wants me to cook everything and take it up to her house...NOT...ain't doin it any more, I'm sick of hauling it all and doing the same ol' same ol'...what's that ...do I hear Florida calling...yes...

My Mom used to go all out for us kids too when we were small, but when they divorced, it was never the same...hey, I'm gonna sell both of my shadow boxes, the feathers and the yarn, so if you're interested, just lemme know, I'll need $100.00 each...purdy good deal, just gimme a jingle.

the crazy one (I'm cleaning house) (again)...

I beginning to agree with you on all of the above ! I'm truly trying to get myself into it this year but with the economy the way it is & nieces and nephews who have way too much , also being caught in the middle of two dysfunctional families .....I'd really rather just go somewhere nice til it's over .

AMEN sister!! I dislike the holidays as well! It's a ton of work for something that mankind dreamed up years ago to make their wallets fat! I have only put up a tree a couple of times in the last 20 years.

I have three children and they each get a special night to spend with mom and shop for things they need or want. We've been doing that for 7 or 8 years. But all that changes this year, my son is in Texas and my girls are more interested in their love life.

I even hate getting together with my family, their is always some kind of drama! I always dread Thanksgiving and Christmas for that reason. You probably think I'm awful.

I would like to spend a quite day with my children, eating a good meal with a nice glass of wine. Maybe play some board games and relax a little. (that's not going to happen, cause we have to go to my moms and pretend that we enjoy that!)
